Ginza Natsuno
Chopstick Craft Workshop
銀座夏野 箸作り体験工房
Ginza Natsuno is one of Japan's largest chopstick specialists, offering more than 3,000 varieties crafted by artisans from across the country. Right next to the flagship store, the dedicated workshop offers the opportunity to shape your own pair of chopsticks by hand using a traditional Japanese plane.
Workshop conducted in English

About the workshop
What started the workshop was how many overseas customers said they wanted to try making chopsticks. As a shop that specializes in chopsticks, Ginza Natsuno felt they should offer not only beautifully made chopsticks, but also the experience of creating them.
They think of chopstick-making as the most approachable way into materials like wood and lacquer. Whether you live in Japan or are visiting from abroad, they want you to discover the natural warmth, lightness, and character of wood firsthand.
What matters to them is making things by hand, relying on machines as little as they can — preserving a simple, hands-on approach to craftsmanship. The workshop focuses on shaping unfinished wooden chopsticks by hand. In the adjoining Ginza Natsuno store, you'll also find handcrafted chopsticks created by skilled artisans using traditional techniques such as lacquer finishing and decorative inlay with shell and eggshell. They hope this experience inspires more people to discover and appreciate that tradition. For them, that is at the heart of what they do.
